The Chainsmokers are poised to be the first new act to contend in all four general field categories at the Grammys since Sam Smith pulled off this feat two years ago. According to our Grammy predictions, the EDM duo is currently in second place for Best New Artist behind Chance the Rapper. And they are within striking distance of reaping bids in both Record and Song of the Year for the track “Closer.” However, their debut disc, “Bouquet,” had only five tracks and will have a hard time breaking into Album of the Year.
As of this writing, the five acts that lead our Grammy predictions for Best New Artist, in descending order of their racetrack odds, are: Chance the Rapper (9/4 odds), The Chainsmokers (7/2 odds) and three three female solo artists: country singers Cam (9/2 odds) and Maren Morris (5/1 odds), as well as pop newcomer Alessia Cara (5/1 odds). Of these, only The Chainsmokers figure in our Grammy predictions for Album, Record and Song of the Year.
